Eastlake is the home of the Lake County Captains, a Class A minor league baseball team affiliated with the Cleveland Indians. It is also the home of the Boulevard of 500 Flags.

As of the 2000 census, there were 20,255 people residing in the city. Other villages within the Eastlake area are Timberlake and Lakeline which border on Lake Erie.
